African Safari: Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda
So you have always wanted to go on an African safari! Join us as we go on a wild adventure: kicking off in Nairobi, we head out into the dark continent to visit an array of game reserves. See African animals in their true habitat cheetah, hippos, zebras, giraffes plus many more - it's an all-star cast!

Arrival day in Africa! Fly into Nairobi International Airport where you will be met by your tour leader and taken to the Silver Springs Hotel.
We leave Nairobi in the morning and drive to Lake Naivasha, stopping to get a view overlooking The Great Rift Valley. We will visit Elsamere home of the late Joy Adamson in the afternoon, then stay at Fishermans Camp on the lake shore where it is sometimes possible to watch the hippos grazing at night.

Today we drive into the Masai Mara game park! We spend a day and a half in this wonderful park - keep your eyes peeled for zebra, giraffes, wildebeest and many, many more beautiful animals. We also visit the Masai warriors and their wives at a local village to see how they live.
Our nights are spent in permanent tents at the Acacia tented campsite, under starry African skies. We then leave the camp on the third day and head to Lake Nakuru, where we spend the night in accommodation.

Lake Nakuru National Park is well-known for its huge pink flamingo population, as well as an abundance of other birdlife. We spend the day game driving and camp at one of the sites in the park tonight.

Up early for a morning game drive before exiting the park and heading up to Eldoret via Eldama Ravine. We will be staying at Naiberi River Camp up in the highlands where it is cold. Not to worry though as they have a roaring fire going in the bar and some of the best hot showers in Africa! (accommodation: dormitory).

Next stop: Uganda. We head north to the breathtaking Sipi Falls, where we spend an interesting afternoon walking on the trails with a local guide. A glorious night is spent here, overlooking the falls with the foothills of Mt Elgon in the back ground, a truly great place for a sundowner or two. (Camping).

Leaving in the morning we have an easy drive through to Jinja, where we spend the night overlooking the source of the Nile at Bujagali Falls. (Permanent tent with bedding) The next day it is a short drive to Kampala, Ugandas capital. Here you have the opportunity to see the nightlife of Kampala and try out some of the great restaurants. (Camping).

Leaving Kampala in the morning we drive west to Fort Portal and on to Kibale forest. We spend the next two nights here at CVK Resort on the side of Nyabikere Crater Lake. On the second day you have the opportunity to do a chimpanzee walk (optional currently U$130) to view these primates in their natural habitat or take a hike around the stunning surrounding crater lakes nearby. (Basic accommodation).

Leaving Kibale Forest we drive past the majestic Ruwenzori Mountains to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where we take a launch trip up the Kasinga Channel. There are literally hundreds of gorgeous hippos and other game to behold, as well as abundant birdlife in the water. We overnight at the beautiful Mweya Lodge.

Leaving Queen Elizabeth National Park in the morning we head to the town of Kabale. We will stop for supplies before driving on to Lake Bunyoni where we will spend the next two days. Here you can relax by the lake shore, try your hand at paddling a dugout canoe, visit some of the islands on the lake by motorboat, or go on a guided bird walk. (Accommodated).

Today we cross into Rwanda, home of the mountain gorilla, and drive through to Ruhengeri where we base ourselves for the next four days. Gorilla Trekking Day! (optional currently US$550pp) You will be picked up early in the morning by landrovers and taken up to the park entrance headquarters. From here you will be split into groups with a guide and park rangers to begin your hike into see the magnificent mountain gorillas. It can take between one and four hours to find the gorillas as they are constantly on the move. You will spend an hour with the group before hiking back to the headquarters and your ride back to Ruhengeri.
Part of this trip is dedicated to helping an orphanage in Ruhengeri. We spend two days volunteering at the orphanage. You don't need any special skills, just a willingness to muck in. It could be painting rooms, building another house or looking after the kids, there is plenty that needs to be done and it will be a rewarding and fun experience!

Leave Ruhengeri in the morning and drive through the mountains to Kigali, Rwanda's capital city. We will visit the very moving Genocide Museum in the morning then after lunch we will take all you shopaholics to the carving and curio markets. We spend the last night of the tour at Chez Lando Hotel which is only three kms from the airport.

You will be dropped off at the Kigali airport where you will catch your flight back to Nairobi and your connecting flight home. What a wonderful African adventure it has been!
